MANGATA SHORTS - MADE WITH THE ENVIRONMENT IN MIND
The ocean is our place of peace, our lifeline.
That feeling of complete calm when you are staring out at the open sea, nothing else in sight, with the wind in your face and the sun on your skin. This is the feeling that inspired our founder, having grown up on the North Norfolk coast to create a brand that celebrates this but also gives back. The ocean relieves us of our troubles but now the ocean is in trouble and we need to act.

Every minute of every day, the equivalent of one truckload of plastic enters the sea. Single-use plastics are filling up our oceans, choking marine life and entering our food chain.
At Mangata London we use a fabric that is made from 100% post consumer recycled plastic bottles, re-purposing them before they end up in landfill and inevitably the ocean. Using recycled plastic products reduces CO2 emissions by 70% and recycled polyester fabric uses 90% less water than regular polyester. 1kg of recycled Polyester can keep 60 water bottles out of landfill and our oceans.
Small things can make a big difference, we've reduced our packaging to a minimum, using purely recycled paper, swing tags made from cotton off cuts and even compostable mail bags! Mangata London is a member of the Eco-packaging Alliance supporting global reforestation.

We work closely with our manufacturer in Romania to ensure the most efficient use of material. Our shorts are made in small production runs which ensures the team are able to remain focused on quality, durability, comfort and style.
We are continuously trying to make improvements to our sustainability. Last year we started the Mangata Medley, a new wood on our founders family farm where we have so far planted 30 trees of different species to offset our carbon footprint as well as finding ways to reduce it in the first place. If you'd like to find out more -follow our blog or email us at contact@mangatalondon.com
We recommend you rinse your Mangatas rather than putting them in the washing machine and promote the use of washing bags such as Guppy Bags which can be used in the washing machine to catch micro fibres. These will shortly be available to buy here!

Our aim is to keep as much plastic as possible out of our oceans and to increase awareness of the plight of the ocean, getting you, our community, on board for the ride.
